Like any spoilded children, when running into problem, these automakers turn to their parents, US government, and ask for help. The way they claim for support make poeple believe that they deserve it. They don't seem feel ahamed of what they have done. Indeed, the compeition is sever, but it is not enough to justify the failure of Detorit Automakers. For a long time, US car gradutelly lost it competitive edge to Japanese and Korean cars. Normally, when a firm lost its competitive edge, either it goes out of business or it has to enhance it competitiveness. However, what these Detorit automakers choosed was doing nothing and waiting for US bailout plan to help them go through the end of this year. They asked for 25billion dollar form congress, however, the question is, how long this 25 billion dollar can last? Detorit automakers together have burned 18billion dollar last quarter due to the decrease of consumption and the competition from foreign car. So, will this 25billion provide a opportunity for US automakers to survive, or just extend the time of brankrupcy. If there is no hope for these automakers to change or no chance for these automakers to compete with foreign automakers, why US government need to spend such big money on them?

To bailout or not, is a dilimma for Bush government. I think the bailout for Detorit will eventaully comes ture. Sicne the automobile industry is too important for US economy. US can't affort antoher jump in unemployment rate, otherwise the economy situtation will be more difficult to address. The question Bush governemnt is think about is probably how to resecue these companies in automobile industry. Giving them 25billion is not a too big issue, US governemnt has determined a 750billion bailout budget. They only concern is how to secure that these automakers will well utilize these money and bring themselves back to the free competition market.
